Italian know-how expressed through colour and material
At the heart of Expo 2025 Osaka, the Italy Pavilion stands as a contemporary homage to the
Renaissance Ideal City—a place where innovation, sustainability, and tradition intertwine in a
vision centred on the human being. Contributing to this narrative of Made in Italy is Gruppo Boero,
a national excellence in the field of paint solutions for building and yachting, which is providing the
interior surfaces of the Pavilion with its decorative and protective systems.

A shared project of excellence
Boero, a brand of the Group, supplied the high-performance coating system for all interior
plasterboard surfaces, also supporting the construction teams with technical training and on-site
assistance. The solution includes the use of Matt Koala as a primer, ensuring uniform coverage
and proper adhesion to the substrate, and Boero HP matte enamel—flagship products of the Boero
brand. The system was developed by Gruppo Boero’s R&D laboratory, performance-tested in Italy
and subsequently applied in Japan, guaranteeing maximum aesthetic and functional results.
“Gruppo Boero represents the Italian passion for colour and expertise in the development of high-
performance coating solutions. The collaboration with the Italy Pavilion highlights our ongoing
commitment to excellently interpreting the aesthetic and functional needs of those who design,
apply, and benefit from our solutions.”
Giampaolo Iacone, General Manager of Gruppo Boero
Colour and material in service of Italian identity
The colour scheme selected for the Pavilion interiors, developed in collaboration with MCA – Mario
Cucinella Architects, the creators of the entire project, comes from Boero’s “1831 – Il Colore
Italiano” collection. It focuses on ivory shades chosen to enhance the scenic presence of exposed
wood—the key element of vertical beams and ceilings.
“For this project, we selected products that best represent the strength of the Boero brand. Each
colour, each texture, is designed to tell a story of Italian excellence.”
Riccardo Carpanese, Marketing Director of Gruppo Boero
A Pavilion that speaks to the world
The narrative concept of the Italy Pavilion—Thinking with your hands—perfectly embodies Gruppo
Boero’s philosophy: a union of artisanal know-how and innovative vision. Participation in Expo
confirms the Group’s positioning as a partner for international projects that place beauty,
sustainability, and Italian craftsmanship at the centre.
“Italian companies like Boero, which have contributed in various ways with their expertise to
making our Pavilion not only an architectural work but also a narrative of Italian know-how, are
examples of the Made in Italy we want to showcase at this Expo.”
Amb. Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka
